Back Cove Animal Hospital is an inviting, comfortable and low stress environment

We want your visit to Back Cove Animal Hospital to be the best veterinary experience you ever had! We are all animal lovers here, and we work hard to create a warm, inviting and comfortable environment for you and your pet.

After booking an appointment with us, we will confirm via email and send a reminder text asking for confirmation 24-48 hours before the appointment. If you are a new client, we will also email you our Pre-Visit Questionnaire, which we ask that you fill out and return prior to your appointment. This will give us additional information to make sure we do everything we can to make your visit as low-stress and comfortable as possible. You can access the Pre-Visit Questionnaire here as well:

When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and welcomed to enjoy a beverage from our hospitality station, or join our guest WiFi. One of our veterinary technicians will then introduce themselves and guide you to an examination room. Most of our dog patients head right for the overstuffed dog beds and our cat patients love climbing our cat hammock. You'll likely notice all of the toys, treats and comfortable touches in each room. Our veterinary technicians will ask you questions about your pet's medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit, gathering information for the veterinarian. They will then consult with the veterinarian and together they will form a plan for you and your pet.

Our veterinarian will then examine your pet, ask you further questions and may recommend diagnostics tests or treatments if needed. Once the tests have been run, which can usually be done in the practice, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and individualized treatment plan if warranted.

This is a great time to ask questions. Our team wants to make sure you are completely comfortable with the information you are being provided.

Our veterinary technician will then come back to wrap everything up, and review any medications or products. They are also available to provide helpful pet care information and answer any wellness questions you may have.  Our veterinary technicians will also process your payment and schedule any needed follow-up appointments right in the exam room with you. They will then escort you back to the reception area, where you are welcome to sit and enjoy the view of the Back Cove, or enjoy a walk on the trail! We look forward to seeing you next time!

Sometimes, the Unexpected Happens

Our goal is to see all of our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these times are minimized as much as possible. Please accept our apologies should this occur, and understand that the same dedication and courtesy will be provided to your pet should they ever need it.

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and any other major credit cards.

We also accept CareCredit and offer ScratchPay, a short-term loan program for veterinary expenses.

Website Accessibility Statement

Back Cove Animal Hospital is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability. We aim to adhere as closely as possible to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0, Level AA), published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make Web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly to everyone. Whilst we strive to adhere to the guidelines and standards for accessibility, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website and we are currently working to achieve this. Be aware that due to the dynamic nature of the website, minor issues may occasionally occur as it is updated regularly. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility.

If you have any comments and or suggestions relating to improving the accessibility of our site, please don't hesitate to contact our accessibility coordinator Amber, at (207) 253-1780. Your feedback will help us make improvements.
